Anjuman I Islam’s Kalsekar Campus School of pharmacy had organized DST & BRNS sponsored two days National seminar “Translational research in oncology from benchside to bedside” on 10-11th September 2015. The emphasis remained on socio-economic impact of Cancer on our society and its targeted ways of treatment. The conference brought together all sections of academicians, industrialists and research scholars on one platform so as to boost cancer research. The inaugural ceremony was attended by many distinguished personalities like Dr Ashok Vaidya (Director, Kasturba Medical Center), Mr Burhan Harris (Exe. Chairman BINM, AIKTC), Dr Abdul Razak Honnutagi( Director AIKTC-SOP), Mr Saeed Mulla, Mr Iqbal , Dr R.H.Iyer, Dr Amonkar and hosted by Dean of SoP : Dr Rajani Shettigar. Inauguration was done by Hon Chairman by releasing of abstract proceedings. Inaugural function was followed by keynote address delivered by Nalini Kshirsagar, ICMR Chair (Clinical Pharmacology). She explained importance of translational research to bring effective medicines to cancer patients. It was followed by technical sessions which were delivered by many renowned scientists. T.Dr Rajkumar halder, Dr vikram gota from ACTREC, Dr Nalini shastry from NIPER, Dr Mangal Nagarsenkar from Bombay college of pharmacy were amongst them and Dr. Evan Coutinho (Bombay college of pharmacy), Dr. Anuradha Majumdar (Bombay college of pharmacy) and Dr. Rajani Shettigar were chairpersons. In addition, international speakers such as Dr Pravin Jadhav( Merck USA) and Dr Shruti Agarwal( BMS, USA) also presented their work remotely. Poster session and evaluation was preceded on 11th September with the participation of M.Pharm, PhD and UG students from 10-15 well known colleges. Finally, the conference ended by a valedictory function where the announcement of best poster as well as vote of thanks was proposed. The organizing committee had put all their efforts to make this event a successful one.
